[ Shinobu is at home, enduring the buzzing that comes from being alone. She's a little worried because every time her brother goes off and comes back, he suffers. She doesn't have much room to throw stones, but she's allowed her concern.

She is wrapping bundles of herbs to keep herself busy and to keep her mind off of whatever she's hearing, very unaware of the above shenanigans and its effects or that Ookurikara is looking for her. ]

[ haha. her relatively peaceful night is about to come to an end, as the first place ookurikara goes is her house, to bang loudly on the front door. ]

Shinobu! I need your help - it's your brother!

[wisterin]

[ She drops everything immediately when she hears it's about Lan Wangji. She hastily grabs a bag and flies to the door, yanking it open. Her concern and panic are barely contained. ]

What happened?

[ She shuts the door behind her, motioning for Ookurikara to lead the way. They can talk and walk. ]

[ as soon as she's out, he's turning to lead her back toward his restaurant, without bothering to slow his stride. shinobu will keep up, for her brother's sake. ]

He came to the restaurant - said something about observing me. He used that power of his, and then he threw up and passed out. There's blood everywhere.

[ and when they reach their destination, he shoves the screen aside to let shinobu in first so she can see for herself. ]

[ She keeps up. She doesn't care about staying on her feet. She flies with her wings out in full view.

At the mention of blood, her composure slips. ]

It wasn't that bad last time he used his power to see. He was in pain, but there wasn't blood. If we're meant to find you, why is he being punished for it?

[ Her anger blends with her panic. ]

Because the gods find toying with our lives is entertaining? Don't ask me.

[ who is kara to begrudge her anger, when he's so frustrated with the situation himself? having these powers foisted upon them, and their freedom stolen as they're forced to follow what few leads they have, or let their world fall to ruin... none of it is fair.

and despite his bitterness at being outed as one of the maou, he knows lan wangji means to help. he doesn't deserve the backlash, and certainly not a pool of blood. ]

Check his ears and nose. It looked like they were bleeding, too.

[ She's quick to check his breathing and heart rate, following it up by a closer look at his ears and nose, as Ookurikara suggests. It's only her years of practice that keeps her from losing it after seeing her brother in a pool of his blood.

Her fear makes her eyes bright, but her movements are all business as she cleans her brother up and checking for other possible injuries. She won't let him die because he can't. ]

You should be allowed your privacy. My brother should be allowed his health. We should all be afforded more than this.

[ Her words are quiet but vehement. ]

I don't want any of us to be the gods' chess pieces.

[unfriendliest]

Agreed.

[ he stands back, watching but out of the way unless she needs something from him. ]

But is there anything we can do about it?

[wisterin]

That's what's so frustrating about all of this.

[ The extent of what they can do against the unknown. ]

Knowledge is power, and we only have so much of it. And that people are being cursed or plagued for trying to know more.
