[ suddenly ookurikara regrets following her, and it shows when his face settles into a frown. the drinks tsuru had given him meant he was actually in an okay mood for once, but he doesn't want talk about this again. not with lili. ]
of course, she knows that probably doesn't compare even a little bit to what tsurumaru's comrade must be feeling. she doesn't know what she can do... but she also knows that it's not in her nature to just sit around. as such, she'll go to find him and once he pauses in whatever he's doing in the armory, she'll speak up]
There are animals in the west. I'm going to investigate.
[ talking to lune has gotten him nowhere. searching for tsurumaru's sword has gotten him nowhere. there's no trace of him, except what can be found in the main hall, but ookurikara refuses to believe he's gone until he sees the sword, broken, with his own eyes.
tomorrow, lune had said. if he doesn't get answers tomorrow, he won't hold back again. this he thinks as he goes through drills in the training hall, trying to release some of the restless energy within him. sparks fly here and there as the blade whistles through the air, and he doesn't try to stop them. this is an anger he's fully embraced.
when someone else appears, he pauses, but doesn't turn to face them. when it's lili's voice that speaks up, he finds himself a little surprised, and a little irritated that she seems to think ookurikara would care where she goes. but then she asks if he's coming, too, and it suddenly makes sense. she... didn't seem to dislike tsuru, after all.
eventually, he'll slowly sheath his sword and turn to head for the exit. ]
[ after venturing into the village to find what he needs, ookurikara finally heads back to the armory to collect tsurumaru with a small, unmarked box in hand, clinking softly with each step. when he sees lili there, he pauses for only a moment before continuing to his usual place to set the box down and open it. ]

[ he doesn't look up at lili, or even clarify what he means as he carefully lays out a white shawl, setting tsuru's shards, the steel as bright now as it had been before, on top of it as if piecing the sword back together. ]
[it's been long enough now that lili doesn't think that she needs supervision in order to practice using knives - she remembers how yona used to do this with a wooden sword, practicing in the evening no matter what she was doing, even if the hot springs were waiting for her. lili is doing much of the same, but she'll pause when ookurikara speaks to her
tossing her hair back over her shoulder, she glances to him and then looks down at what he's doing - ]

[it's probably for the best because she hasn't been sleeping well regardless, and she'll move to put the knife away, wiping gently at the darker spots underneath her eyes with her free hand as she does]
lili wakes up as soon as she suffers from the dream - but instead of rushing to the main hall, she could only curl up in bed and take a second, trying not to cry too loudly or else risk alarming kaoru. she doesn't bother running to check for a coffin today - even if she can't say why that is. perhaps the fear gets the better of her today, and she isn't sure how well she'd be able to cope with the truth of her nightmare realized.
so instead she heads for the armory, ao perched on her shoulder, trying to offer her an acorn in these trying times. she clearly still looks awful, eyes rimmed red. her hands are placed on her cheeks, fingers cool and icy to try to make the redness around her cheeks disappear so she looks awful.
though sleepy, lost in thought, and teary-eyed as she is,
she might not notice whoever might already be in the armory, or where they are, especially if they may be - well, on the ground.
[ part of the problem with the bodies they'd been given is that the hearts that come with them want to dwell on emotion, even when it gets in the way. so after sending off the tower, ookurikara has thrown himself into training so he wouldn't have to think about it, but it's left him exhausted. it's another con of having a human body, and sometimes it makes kara wish he was still just a sword.
usually, he'll park himself somewhere out of the way for the night, in a corner of the armory where he's less likely to be bothered. on wednesday night, he's tired enough from trying to master his magic that he doesn't get that far, simply leaning against the wall, sliding to floor, and falling asleep before he can think about how inconvenient this particular spot may be.
most days, kara rises with the sun and has breakfast ready by the time everyone else is up - a holdover of helping mitsutada in the citadel. by thursday morning, he's sprawled on his side with his sword held loosely in one hand, still sound asleep.
until someone trips over him, anyway. then his eyes will open into a sleepy glare. what the fuck. ]

he doesn't really have anywhere to begin on either yet. so after futaba has been taken away, he retreats to the kitchen, apparently cooking dinner? you'd think they didn't just choose to send another girl to her death. ]
[the war is over, but dinner still needs to be served.
unfortunately, lili is too damn weak to be able to actually force her body to stay awake after she's lost an eye, so kara will actually be without an assistant during tuesday's dinner. however! she is able to wake up in time for breakfast on wednesday, even though she wasn't quite able to make it to sparring. there's a frown on her face about that, if only because right now she thinks she'll need the practice more than ever.
that's all she's thinking about - not the fact that her head is half covered in bandages, that she's suffered an eye injury, that others might be worried about her - when she tries to make it to the kitchen.
her shoulder bumps into the doorway because her depth perception is a little fucked and she has to pause - ]
[ dinner on tuesday night probably had to be pretty simple, to be honest. even kara's having some issues with cooking right now, but he's better on wednesday morning, at any rate, he's been bandaged up so he's taking his time with breakfast, trying not to move too much or too fast to rip the wounds back open.

comfort will never be his forte, though. he knows that lili liked the bird - or at least, he's seen the bird clinging to her - so he won't ask if she's alright. so as they prepare to change the bandages, kara will simply say: ]

he almost regrets bringing the it up when lili suggests trying some of his other (unnecessary) clothes, but she and kaoru had both said it would be good to have them in case of something like this, so he might as well. kara spends some time staring at the clothes they'd given him, as if the garments would somehow choose his outfit for him. when they don't, he decides to try to find something mitsutada would approve of, which is how he ends up back in those impractical form-fitting pants and a nice black button-down shirt, though he might've ruined the illusion by rolling the sleeves up. he's even dug out out a belt to tie his sword to, so he doesn't have to carry it himself throughout their date.
then he heads for the gateway, tilting his head when he catches the last bit of what she's saying. ]

except it seems that once dinner is actually prepared and ready to be served, lili will peek her head out the kitchen door and look around for him. when she does manage to see him, she waves him down and there's no denying that the look in her eye is a little bit
